The Melody of Neighborly Love: An Autobiography of Jack Antonio M. Pintian
Please, lend me your ear and listen to my story.
My name is Jack Antonio M. Pintian, a name pronounced "Hirata" in Japanese. My life has been defined by overcoming adversity and an unending commitment to loving my neighbor. In 1962, following emergency surgery at JRCS Takamatsu Hospital, my life literally began at the border of life and death. My soul, which narrowly remained in this world, was strongly drawn to music from childhood, and I had a fateful encounter with the sounds of The Carpenters in elementary school. I believe that this initial, profound emotion set my destiny on the path of music.
My involvement with music began with playing the trombone in the middle school brass band. After graduating from university, I studied under a professional guitarist for a while, and later taught myself the trumpet and harmonica. The melodies welling up inside me could not be satisfied by a single instrument; they constantly compelled me to seek out diverse sounds and ways to express myself.
However, the foundation of my life philosophy was not musical technique. After my father's death, I endured the painful experience of being abandoned by my kin, but the church warmly embraced me. This experience is precisely what gifted me the unchanging motto: "Love Thy Neighbour."
This deep philosophy later culminated in the most beautiful form: the establishment of Love Thy Neighbour Music. There was an elderly person living near my home who was struggling financially and battling health issues. I supported them financially, and my wife, a devout Christian, delivered a hot meal every single day. Through this heartwarming exchange, the stranger next door became like family to us, and sometimes we even enjoyed listening to music together. This true story of human love is the very soul of our label and the origin of its name.
Tour guide, school instructor, caregiver... I have constantly fought illness while working in various professions that support society. Particularly during my time as a caregiver, the excessive strain led to a physical disability, leaving me with the trial of difficulty walking, which could have crushed me. Yet, my passion for music has never, ever faded. Battling physical pain, I continue to face music today.
The instrumental music I create as the Founder, Producer, and Leader of "Love Thy Neighbour Music" is not merely performance. It is the deep, warm human compassion fostered in the face of adversity, and the cry of my own soul that pushes forward despite the pain. If my music can reach someone's heart and serve as a catalyst for them to rediscover the true value of life and the meaning of "loving your neighbor," there is no greater joy.
I have also been blessed with many fellow musicians through my musical endeavors, who have cooperated with me in Love Thy Neighbor Music, and I would like to express my deepest gratitude to them.
